Commuting for ladies' night

I'm ashamed to admit that last night is the first time I've attempted to ride into downtown golden for an evening out. It's roughly six miles each way and takes About thirty minutes.  That's no biggie. The part that intimidated me was the dark ride home and the uphill on Washington coming out of golden. But I finally decided to tryout the experience and brought super bright bike lights and my can-do attitude with me ;)

I rode to the table mtn inn for dinner and put all my gear in my bike basket which I can pop off the bike and brought inside with me. I locked the bike to the rack and hoped it would be safe.

After dinner we walked right by my bike and went to see a play. At 930pm, I began my ride home. Not one single issue-- I felt safe and warm Enough and enjoyed the stars and fresh air thinking "what a way to end my night!!

All told it was just under 12 miles round trip and about an hour total ride time. I figure that's enough to burn off the 1/3 of the dessert we shared !! 🍨🍨🍨

Work commute....loving the new gear!

I have never used a thermal vest before and let me tell you it is amazing! Loving the new gear and kits. Of course the 70 degree temps in the afternoon help!
Ride more drive less....

Beautiful February Day!

It's an awesome day when you can ride your bike to the grocery store in February! I'd forgotten the freedom that comes from using your bike purely as transportation, with no time to beat, no cutoffs to miss, and no boys to chase.
It was so nice to just tool around and run my errands on a beautiful day!

The long way home

Amazing 60 degree weather in February....took the long way home! :)

Thursday Surprise

What a great day to commute! Within minutes of pulling onto Baseline I was pleasantly surprised to be tapped on the shoulder from Heather McKernan ; she was commuting in with a friend to Boulder. I'm sure she appreciated the spin out after the punishing Defined Fitness spin class Megan put us through last night!
The Flatirons view was stunning this morning which when driving I don't have the solace one does on the bike. Luckily I didn't forget any must haves like I did last commute...That said, the more I utilize the nice paths Boulder has to offer, the better equipped I'll be.

If I Can’t Bike to Work …

I’ve worked in downtown Boulder (the Pearl Street Mall specifically) for the past 10 years. Although I love Boulder’s shopping, restaurants and trail system, so does everyone else. Driving into Boulder is hectic and it takes me about 30 minutes to drive to my office from Louisville. It only takes me 32 minutes to ride my bike to work. The only thing preventing me from riding to work every day are the roads. Right now, the roads from my house into Boulder are still covered in ice and the shoulder is not particularly safe. I hate being constrained by my car waiting for the snow and ice to melt. I need to run errands and I have numerous meetings outside of my office throughout the day. But, taking my car to drive less than 5 miles and losing my coveted parking spot is unthinkable. So, I keep a commuter bike in my office. It’s so much easier to hop on my bike and either run errands or ride to a meeting. And, I find myself looking forward to running errands and going to meetings out of the office. It’s also opened up my lunch options considerably.
