With the gorgeous weather yesterday, it was no surprise to see TONS of other cyclists out and about on the Platte River Trail on my ride home. What I wasn't expecting was a traffic jam! Isn't that why we commute by bike...to avoid such things?! :-) As it turns out, the good folks of CO are doing a lot of work along the river to improve both the path and the surrounding areas. This is great news for those of us who rely on this path to get to/from work in a safe way, but to my fellow commuters on the Platte River Trail, please be careful as there are more detours which seem to be popping up quite frequently lately.
I wanted to give a shout out to the men who not only flagged us down to warn about the piece of equipment that was blocking the trail, but who also took the time to sweep the path before letting us go through. It's so great to live in a place where everyone is so considerate of cyclists!
Thank you guys for keeping us safe and for the impromptu social gathering on the north end of this "jam".

I cruise through this same spot every day too! The flag man crew does a great job :) Beware, a much larger detour is eminent: http://www.coloradodot.info/projects/US6Bridges/detour-route-maps/platte-river-trail.jpg/image_view_fullscreen
